Hamburg: trial of Musa Asoglu

The trial of Musa Asoglu, begun in the end of January, 2017 to the County court of Hamburg, in Germany, will end in January and February, 2019.

Several dates of audience concerning the trial of Musa Asoglu to the County court of Hamburg in Germany were communicated. With the reserve of last-minute changes  as it was usual during last year. They extend from Thursday, January 10th till 10 am until Thursday, February 7th, the presumed end of the trial.

Musa Aşoğlu is a Turkish revolutionary detained in Germany since 2 December 2016 and his trial, under Article 129b of the Penal Code, began on 25 January 2018 at the County court of Hamburg in Germany. Confronted with the problem of terrorism, the Federal Republic of Germany adopted the 129b Law stipulating that membership or assistance in a terrorist group is an act punished by law. It also concerns persons who, without having committed wrongdoing in the territory of the Federal Republic, are considered to be terrorists in other States.

Accused to be a leader of the DHKP-C (Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front), a far left organization placed on the official list of terrorist organizations by a few countries, including Turkey, the United States and the United Kingdom, his indictment is essentially based on his political activities. These include organizing a symposium against isolation in several European countries, as well as various political investments in democratic spheres. Musa Aşoğlu faces a 10-year prison sentence in the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as a risk of extradition to the United States, which since 2014 have staked a $ 3 million bonus on his head.

For many years, Musa Aşoğlu has fought against fascism, racism and discrimination. He committed neither offenses nor crime and became revolutionary to change the system based on injustice.

It would seem, however, that the German State which, in this trial, accumulates inconsistencies, would try to judge Musa Aşoğlu by deciding on a heavy sentence fixed before the end of the trial. Consequently, potential intimidation of those who fight against repression, for democracy and who claim the rights to freedom may be possible.

Trial dates: Thursday, January 10 (10:00) - Friday, January 11 - Monday, January 14 - Tuesday, January 15 - Monday, January 21 - Tuesday, January 22 - Thursday, January 31 - Friday, February 1 (10:00) - Wednesday, February 6 (10:00) - Thursday, February 7.

Address of Musa Aşoğlu : Ptom Hambourg - Sieve King place 2 - 20355 Hambourg - Allemagne.
