PROTEST AGAINST FORCE FEEDING TORTURE IN TURKEY. 4 PROTESTORS DETAINED IN FRONT OF EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT IN BRUSSELS TODAY
This early afternoon Belgian police intervened in a protest in front of the European Parliament in Brussels.
4 people, among them mother and father of Grup Yorum members Betül and Bergün Varan (Bergün is recently imprisoned in Turkey) were detained by Belgian police this early afternoon in front of the European Parliament. They carried posters against force feeding torture and chained themselves near the building to show solidarity with death fasting members of Grup Yorum in Turkey and Mustafa Kocak, supporting their demands.
The detained persons had continued a solidarity hungerstrike in Belgium already for a couple of days to give a voice to the death fasting Grup Yorum members Ibrahim and Helin, as well as to Mustafa Kocak in Turkey.
As reported by the local Turkish news channel GHA the police intervention took place at 1.15 p.m. today.
Shortly after this incident and detention of 4 persons, 3 other persons were detained by police near the European Parliament. They also called the people to support the death fasters in Turkey, whose life is in danger after around 270 days of hunger protest.
The death faster Mustafa Kocak was tortured for 5 days in the prison Sakran in Western city Izmir since he resisted force feeding torture.
