Helin BͶlek lost her life
Helin Bölek, a member of Grup Yorum, who had been on a death fast for 288 days against pressure, raids, arrests and bans, died on the morning of 3 April. We respectfully thank Helin Bolek for her struggle, and extend our condolences to all our people!

IMAGINE A COUNTRY!
A country where singers are crushed because they sing the songs of oppressed peoples.
A country where journalists are imprisoned because they wrote or criticized the government!
A country where children are imprisoned because they asked to study for free or they were against the repression of extreme right-wing students.
A country where lawyers are imprisoned because they defended oppressed people.
There is only one solution: to resist.
WHO IS GRUP YORUM
Today, the Turkish government in power is exercising increasing repression against young people, workers, lawyers, journalists, doctors and peasants. As a rule, against the entire population who question its policies. Since the push of 15 July 2016, the state has declared a state of emergency. And this in order to justify the current policy exercised by the government which has imprisoned thousands of people and has, among other things, closed hundreds of democratic NGOs.
Grup Yorum, which has become legendary, is still supporting the struggle of the Turkish people, but also of the international community. The group has been able to combine the sense of protest in music with traditional melodies. Internationalist, Grup Yorum also sings in Kurdish, Zazaki, Arabic, Circassian as well as in all the languages spoken in Anatolia.
Since its creation in 1985, Grup Yorum has been a committed music group that does more than just sing. They are present in all struggles, supporting student, worker and rural movements. They sing for all oppressed peoples. Their struggle worries the system currently in place in Turkey. That is why, beyond censorship, torture and prison, they have undergone more than 400 trials. Despite all these repressions, Grup Yorum still exists and will continue to exist because it is the tool of the collective conscience. It is the voice of the people, of hope in struggle and resistance. It is the voice of hope for a better future.
The group has thus been able to organize a large number of concerts and sell more than two million albums. So far, whether in Turkey, Europe or around the world, they have been able to fill stadiums and bring together hundreds of thousands of people from many different backgrounds. And this is the reason why Grup Yorum remains under the repression of the Turkish government.
At every repression, in addition to attacking the members of the group, the state also destroys their instruments. But it is not by destroying an instrument that one can silence the voice of the people. It is not by attacking a person’s physical integrity that one destroys his or her values and ideology. Because inexorably, filled with constantly renewed beliefs, others will come and take over.
